Everything Has Changed - Music Video

Scope

The scope of the assignment was to create a music video based on a professional song. We were supposed to use a professional song and create a music video that portrayed the emotions in the song. The assignment was to show the emotions in the song that we chose into a video that would allow the audience to understand the concept.

Process

For pre-production we sat down and talked about what we needed to accomplish to make this video happen. We talked about where we wanted to film, the dates in which people were available, who are actors were going to be, and the aesthetic we wanted. The concept we wanted to create was a warm and loving video that showed the love that the two people had for each other. During the production phase of the video we shot at the Plaza, Pour, Cedar Creek Park, and the ONW library. During the post-production phase of the video we split up into three groups so we'd end up having 3 different videos. With 3 different videos we would be able to see who's vision of the video we liked better.

Learn

Along the way I learned that it's important to communicate with your team members to figure out what would be the best times for filming. Having a set deadline on when we definitely wanted to be done filming isn't necessary. Being able to change the deadline for filming allowed us to change the day we wanted to film the Plaza, which allowed us to be done filming earlier than we originally planned. Since we got done filming earlier than we originally we were able to have more time to edit the videos making them better than what they could have been if we had less time. On the technical side of things I leaned how to separate the audio from the picture of a clip. Learning this tool allowed me to delete the background noise which allowed the audio of the music stand out.

Change

For this project I would change some of the shots that we got. I noticed that a lot of our shots were bumpy because we were walking down steps which made the shot seem bumpy. I would also change the location in which Leah and Ryan filmed in Amanda's house. The lighting kept changing with the angle that they were getting the shots from.

Keep Same

What I would keep the same was the difference in shots. I liked that each of the locations had a different aesthetic but still kept with the same concept of warm colors. I also liked that Amanda and Andrew acted like they love each other in the video even though they claimed that they are only friends.

Experiences

My experiences from this video that I will take to my next one is that shots can show the feelings between two people even if it's really simple. It's easier to have the best shots if you have people around you to support you and offer different angles and shots that could work. Having a good group of people behind you can make or break a video.
