A Feature Story
My concept for this video was how Piper's dedication to marching band everyday is reflected on how other people see her and what she does. My narrative lead is Piper Cumley, and she is a trombone player in the Raven Pride Marching Band. She impacted my video greatly because she provided her own insight on what she thinks is important to have.
For my second interview I interviewed Evan Svetlak. She explained how she knew Piper and what she thought of Piper's dedication to the band. They complimented each other because Piper shared what she thought and then Evan responded with pretty much the same thing and included her own thoughts into it as well.
When I was creating my script I knew pretty much the questions I wanted to ask because it helped that I'm also in marching band so I was able to relate to what I knew to her section. When I was writing the voiceover I was having some trouble thinking of a way to tie what Piper said to what Evan said. Even though they had the same topic of discussion, it was still hard to combine them into one thought.
When I was shooting my video it was hard to find a spot for both of the interviews so they would have sort of the same surroundings except without being outside on the field. Once I found both of the locations there was a few problems with lighting. For Piper's interview Idid it in front of a window but the sun was reflecting off a piece of metal outside on the edge of the school that gave Piper this glow that made her hide into the picture. When I was shooting Evans interview I had a hard time avoiding this glare from the windows in the events entrance. Because of where the sun was at that time of day it was reflecting through the windows onto Evan giving her the bright glow that was hard to shoot without making her seem washed out.
What I like about my video is how m subject integrated herself in er response instead of just talking about the dedication of everybody in the band. I like that she described her own dedication to the band, and that Evan responded with a positive response that was up lifting. I like that the spot I picked for the first interview was in a spot that was in front of a window and made it feel like it was shot outside.
